As promised, I'm updating with yesterday's photos!
Bam, Aiden, and I wandered farther south to Jekyll Island, GA and toured the Sea Turtle Center.
The painted turtle tracks that lead from the street to the center entrance reminded me of the yellow bear prints at Bear Hollow!
You guessed it, we saw turtles at the Center!
And we arrived just in time for a neat puppet show about Scute's life and how he ended up at the Sea Turtle Center!
Aiden did pretty well watching the puppet show. It lasted just 5 min too long though and he got restless. Luckily they ended with a song that got him clapping!
There's a window in the exhibit that allows you to look in on treatments in progress. See where this little turtle's shell is crunched? Ouch! Aiden blew him a kiss and we hope he gets well soon!
This guy was in a fish tank... I'm not exactly sure what he is but he has a mean stare!
Aiden was very busy opening and closing all the information tabs. We learned all about the life cycle, common causes for injury, and diet of sea turtles.
The Terrapin turtles are Bam's favorite!
This poor guy was in for "floating," too much air in his GI track.
Look at the itty bitty baby turtles!!!!!
Aiden kept waving and saying bye-bye to all the turtles.
After wishing all the turtles well, Aiden helped us back to the car where he promptly fell asleep for the ride home. I wonder if he was dreaming of turtles?
I recommend visiting the GA Sea Turtle Center if you ever find yourself on or near Jekyll Island. And if you have time, there' s a great water park, horseback riding on the beach, and historic sites all right there so make a day or two of it!

I LOVE sea turtles. When my youngest was a tot, his favourite movie was Finding Nemo, and his favourite characters were the sea turtles. He had a small stuffed one and a large stuffed one almost as big as he was. We got to see a sea turtle exhibit at our local aquarium, too. Thanks for following my blog! :)
